Wageningen Microbiome Center Kick-off Symposium

We officially launched the Wageningen Microbiome Center on the 24th of September, 2026, together with 200+ participants working on a broad range of microbiomes.

The programme consisted of a combination of inspiring keynote lectures, WMC group pitches and interactive breakout sessions.

Seminar Stefan Geisen

As our final activity before summer, we gathered for Stefan Geisen's WMC Seminar entitled "The extended (soil) microbiome: why looking beyond bacteria and fungi is key". Stefan definitely provided us with some food for thought, not only for the soil microbiologists among us!

Seminar The Holomicrobiome R&D programme

On May 7th, WMC hosted its first seminar "The Holomicrobiome R&D programme – from foundational understanding to innovation and impact" by Hauke Smidt and Leo van Overbeek. They guided us through the aims of the Holomicrobiome Initiative and upcoming funding opportunities, followed by a lively discussion.
